1917 Model T Dirt Racer

Bob Dale is hard to capture in just a few sentences. He is a World War Two veteran. He served in the Pacific as a gunner on the USS Boston. Then he became a well known cartoonists and columnists for the San Antonio Light. He had something in the newspaper every day for almost three decades starting in the mid 1960s. One of his most famous cartoons commemorated the death of screen icon John Wayne. Bob owns several Model Ts, including a white brass front speedster and several other parts cars but he is best know for his "8 Ball dirt racer." a machine created from the chassis of a 1917 touring car. This "jalopy" lack even the most rudimentary windshield which makes it a tough go on any kind of long distance cruise, even on the nicest of days. Bob still keeps his hand in the cartoon game. When he wrote a story about acquiring his first Model T from across the Rio Grande while only around twelve years old living in Brownsville for the "Vintage Ford," he included a picture which you can see below. He has also made some cartoons to celebrate the Ts of one or two other TFOT members. One of the drawings he made for Tom Campbell is also presented here.
